About The
Driver...
David
Magilton is a thirty-nine year old dairy farmer from a town by the name of
Timboon which is tucked away in the south-western corner of Victoria,
Australia. The fun loving dairy farmer began his V8 racing career in the
season of 1997/1998 behind the wheel of a Super Rod. It didn't take long
for Dave to settle in and he won the Rookie of the Year that same season.
After a
short but successful stint in the fiercely competitive Super Rod class
Dave moved up into a 360 Ford powered Sprintcar. A Cleveland Steel block
was prepared and a 360c.i. Sprintcar was born. The blue, yellow and white
rocket ship was about to stick in a number of fans minds. After a steady
debut at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway in the 360c.i. the team began to come to
grips with their new baby. In Dave's first season (2000/2001) with the new
car he won a feature race at Wagga Wagga and was judged the rookie of the
year in the SRA Sprintcar Series. It wasn’t long after that a Ford 372c.i
engine was slotted in to the car as Dave’s new found confidence egged him
on to try open competition.
Ever the
joker, one only has to look for the “TOYminator” (Dave's nickname for his
car) in the pits to find this happily married character. If you ever get a
spare moment after a race meeting make sure you get a chance to talk to
Dave.
